Guy is a talented advertising copywriter

and art director. Based in Sydney.

Here's what he had to say...

FF: How did you find the Freelance Factory, and what do you think of the concept?

I've been a member virtually since it started and have been commissioned to work on some really interesting projects. Much of my recent work has been in financial services. I've had clients from mainstream ad agencies, marketing firms and direct clients. The Freelance Factory has certainly helped big clients find me. It's a terrific idea - worth being a member.

FF: How did you start out as a freelancer?

I studied Graphic Design at the London College of Printing and entered the advertising industry as an Art Director. I was always actively involved in concept and strategy - and began writing more and more. I work mostly as a copywriter these days, with the benefit of thinking and presenting visually when required.

FF: What do you specialise in?

Advertising and direct marketing. Press, print, edms, websites etc. Financial Services, IT - hardware & software, Tourism, Property, Commercial and Industrial. I have extensive experience across the board from event marketing to product launches. Strategic and tactical projects.

My speciality is providing flexibility. I can work within a team situation or can take any project from conceptualisation to production.

FF: How do you usually source freelance work?

It's sometimes a case of who you know - the great thing about Freelance Factory for me is that it puts me (and my skills) in front of people who are looking for talent without having projects delayed or paying over the odds by going through middle men.

FF: What has been your career highlights?

Wow - there have been a few… from working on the original Paul Hogan Australian-made holidays campaign for Mojo, to launching the first GUI Windows in Australia... to winning various awards including a catalogue of the year category and an ADMA effectiveness award.

FF: How does freelancing affect your lifestyle?

It suits the way I work – I enjoy the variety.

FF: What other interests do you have?

I paint contemporary abstracts and landscapes in oils on a special easel that I've developed for use with highly liquid paint.

The paintings are currently showing at Martha's Restaurant, 83 Edinburgh Rd., Castlecrag in Sydney up until Saturday October 4th. And they're for sale!

FF: Do you teach your skills to others?

I've taught tertiary students Advertising at KvB Raffles in Sydney and at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane.

FF: Great chatting Guy!
